Here’s a shocker for you. The legacy media is not too happy with hip-hop artist Kanye West. Indeed, I think it’s fair to say that they’re pretty angry with him right now.
You already know why. Earlier this year, the rapper posted a complimentary tweet about conservative speaker Candace Owens, black women who happens to be a passionate Trump supporter. If that wasn’t bad enough, he went on to state that he “loves Trump.”
You probably remember how the left reacted. Their unhinged response was so over-the-top, you would have thought that West assassinated Martin Luther King Jr. Unfortunately, their enmity toward the artist has not abated over time. CNN’s Don Lemon recently made some pretty insulting remarks about West.
Don Lemon Disparages Kanye West’s Intelligence
Lemon lashed out at Kanye West after he gave an interview to a Chicago morning show in which he reaffirmed his support for the president. During the conversation, West stated that Trump wants blacks to like him and misses the days when rappers would give him shoutouts in their records. “He knows that he can’t be the greatest president without the acceptance of the black community,” West said.
While Lemon has not said much about West, this interview apparently pushed him over the edge. He said:
“If you listen to the entire interview that’s what it sounds like … it’s like a word salad where you realize that Kanye West, entitled to his own opinion, but is not very bright and not very — he — when — I’m talking about this issue, not overall, but when it comes to these issues, he’s not clued in.”
To be fair, Lemon did walk back his comments saying “I take that back, that’s not what I meant.” He went on to argue that Kanye West is not educated on the issues.
The Left’s Enmity Towards Pro-Trump Blacks
So what’s Lemon’s problem with West? After all, we didn’t hear him slamming the rapper when he said that President George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people,” did we? Apparently, people like Don Lemon only believe that blacks can be intelligent if they only support Democrats and disparage Republicans.
Unfortunately, Lemon is not the only one on the left who have no tolerance for blacks who refuse to embrace Democrats. Golfer Tiger Woods recently came under fire for saying that Americans should “respect the office” of the president. On ESPN, Stephen A. Smith castigated the golfer for his comments: “Well, first of all, we don’t know what Tiger Woods believes. He’s Cablinasian. He’s not black,” he said.
Blacks were gladly claiming Tiger Woods when he became famous, why not now? The answer is obvious. He’s not a Trump hater.
Unfortunately, this is the type of treatment that blacks receive when they don’t toe the party line. Indeed, any minority who does not embrace the Democratic Party with open arms is met with scorn. This is especially true if they are celebrities.
Why All The Hate?
The reason why the left throws so much vitriol at blacks who support Trump — or any other conservative for that matter — is because they thrive on the support of members of their various victimhood voting blocs. Put simply; they cannot afford to lose the people who make up these groups because it would result in their political defeat.
The Democratic Party has positioned itself as the party who has the best interests of minorities at heart. The reality is that when they are in control of regions in which minorities reside, they implement policies that keep these individuals living in poverty and crime. Then, they blame racism for the conditions in which these people live. It’s a brilliant con, one that has worked for decades.
Unfortunately for the left, blacks and other minorities are beginning to see through the deception. The #WalkAway movement is evidence that the Democrats hold on these people is slowly loosening. Blacks have made video after video after video announcing their decision to walk away from the Democratic Party. Given this reality, it is not a surprise that they are willing to go to any lengths to hold on to these groups, even if it means attacking those who leave the left. The good news is that their strategy does not appear to be working.
